Weekly Filter Daily System
Most "multi-timeframe" Expert Advisors read a higher timeframe for direction and then trade like a day-trading system underneath it, with a stop sized for the lower timeframe's noise. That combination gets stopped out repeatedly by ordinary daily volatility long before the weekly thesis has time to develop - the position trade is undone by a day-trader's risk budget. This system commits to the position-trading shape honestly. The weekly trend filter requires the last closed weekly bar to close above (or below) a weekly moving average that is itself still rising (or falling) - a flat or turning weekly average with price briefly poking past it does not count as a trend, just noise around a level. The daily entry trigger is a short daily moving-average cross in that same direction, so timing comes from the daily chart while direction stays anchored to the weekly one. The stop is a multiple of the DAILY ATR, kept deliberately wide, because a stop sized to survive weeks of daily noise is the honest cost of trading a weekly thesis at all. The position is closed outright the moment the weekly filter itself flips or goes flat - there is no reason to keep a wide stop waiting on a thesis that has already changed. Only one position is held at a time, and everything is evaluated once per new daily bar, matching the system's own cadence rather than reacting to every tick. Notes and limitations - This is a slow system by design - it may go through long stretches with no trend meeting both the weekly and daily conditions simultaneously, and that is expected, not a malfunction. - The wide ATR-based stop means a losing trade can give back a meaningful amount before it is stopped out. Position sizing must account for this rather than assuming a tight, forgiving stop. - Only one position is held per chart/magic combination at a time; the system does not pyramid into an existing trend. - Requires AutoTrading enabled to open or close anything; with it off, the EA still evaluates and logs but cannot act.
