Volume At Extremes Tracker
A bar's high and low mark the extremes of its range, but plain OHLC data says nothing about how much trading actually happened near those extremes versus in the middle. This indicator reconstructs the most plausible intrabar path from the bar's own four prices and distributes its tick volume along that path, then reports what share fell inside the top and bottom InpZonePct of the bar's range as a signed histogram: positive means volume concentrated near the high, negative means it concentrated near the low. The path assumption is stated plainly rather than hidden: a bullish bar (Close >= Open) is assumed to have dipped to its low before rallying through the high on the way to the close (Open -> Low -> High -> Close); a bearish bar is the mirror image (Open -> High -> Low -> Close). This is the same kind of honest, stated assumption SyntheticCrossBuilder.mq4 uses elsewhere in this catalogue for its high/low envelope - the best a plain OHLC bar can support without inventing tick data that was never recorded. Volume is split across the resulting three path segments proportional to each segment's own price length, then each segment's overlap with the high and low zones is measured directly rather than approximated further. The naive version of this idea would just compare the close's position in the bar's range (a single close-location value) and call that "near the high or low". This indicator goes further by tracing a full three-segment path so a bar that touched its low, rallied to a new high, then pulled back to close mid-range gets credit for volume near both extremes rather than being flattened into one number. Notes and limitations - Every volume figure is MT4 tick volume (price update count), never real traded contracts or lots, and the path itself is a stated assumption reconstructed from OHLC, not a measurement of the actual tick sequence - see the full description for exactly what it assumes. - A bar with High == Low (no range at all) or zero volume produces no value for that bar rather than a fabricated reading. - The path assumption can be wrong for any individual bar - real price action inside a bar is not guaranteed to follow the assumed Open->extreme->extreme->Close order. Treat the output as a plausible estimate across many bars, not a certainty on any one bar. - No trade or alert logic - visual analysis only.
