Stop And Freeze Level Report
"Invalid stops" is the error that appears exactly when you least have time for it. The cause is almost always one of two numbers that nobody looks up until then: the stop level, which is the minimum distance a stop loss, take profit or pending order must keep from the current price, and the freeze level, the band around a trigger price inside which the server refuses to modify or delete at all. Every symbol has its own pair, and they differ wildly between majors, crosses, metals and indices. This script prints both for every symbol in Market Watch, in points and in pips, sorted with the most restrictive symbols on top, with the current spread alongside for context. One run tells you which instruments will fight your stop placement before an order is ever rejected. The honest part, and the reason this report exists at all: many brokers - most ECN accounts, in fact - report both levels as zero. Zero does not mean "place stops anywhere". It usually means the limit is dynamic, recomputed at the server from the current spread, and simply not published through the symbol specification. A report that printed those zeroes without comment would be telling you a comforting lie. This one flags every 0/0 symbol as "dynamic (spread-dependent) - test with small orders", which is the only truthful statement available, and the summary repeats it: a zero is a shrug, not a promise. The script only reads. Optional CSV export for keeping a per-broker record. Notes and limitations - Levels are read from the symbol specification at the moment the script runs. Brokers change them - notoriously around news and before weekends - so treat the table as a snapshot, not a constant. - A 0/0 row means the broker does not publish its limits, not that none exist. The only reliable test is a small live order moved progressively closer until the server objects. - The report covers Market Watch symbols only, by design: the full broker list can run to thousands of symbols you will never trade. Use Show All first if you want the complete audit. - Pips are derived as ten points on 3- and 5-digit symbols and one point otherwise; exotic contract conventions may read more naturally in the points column. - Spread is the current value, shown for context only - on a dynamic broker the enforced distance is typically a multiple of it at execution time.
