Signal Survivorship Panel
Backtesting a full strategy is a lot of work just to answer one narrow question: "when this kind of setup fires, does price typically have room to run before the trade would get stopped out?" This panel answers exactly that question and nothing more, using a deliberately simple built-in signal (close crosses above its own N-bar SMA) so the whole tool is self-contained and reproducible without wiring it to an external strategy. For each qualifying signal it defines 1R as the ATR reading at the signal bar, sets a fixed initial stop one R below entry (no trailing, no breakeven move - genuinely fixed), and walks forward bar by bar checking whether price reached +1R, +2R or +3R of favourable excursion before the low touched the stop. It then reports, across the most recent N signals, what fraction reached each level and what fraction were stopped out before ever reaching +1R. This is a "survivorship" read of how far the setup typically runs, not a profit-factor, win-rate or realistic P&L report - it makes no claim about what a real trade using this signal would have made, since no trader holds with a fixed unmoved stop and no take-profit. Notes and limitations - Long-only. There is no mirrored short-side signal in this version. - The stop is fixed at entry - 1R for the life of the walk-forward scan; it is never trailed or moved to breakeven, so the reported "stopped before 1R" figure is pessimistic compared with any real trade management. - On a bar that both touches a new favourable R level and the stop in the same bar, this tool counts the favourable level as reached first (an optimistic same-bar tie-break, since MetaTrader bar data cannot tell you the intrabar order of the two touches). - Recomputes only when a new bar forms (not on every tick), to keep the scan affordable; the panel will not update mid-bar. - Needs enough history for InpSignalMaPeriod + InpAtrPeriod + a few bars before it reports anything meaningful.
