Session Selector Scorer

"Which session should I trade this on" is usually answered by habit (London and New York overlap "feels" active) rather than by measuring what actually matters for a specific strategy: is the range on offer worth the spread paid to capture it, and does the session's move tend to keep going in one direction or does it whipsaw back and forth. This panel scores three sessions (default Asia/London/New York, fully reconfigurable) on both axes from that symbol's own recent history. Range-to-spread ratio is measured against each session's OWN typical spread sampled during that session, not one live spread reading applied to all three - spread itself varies by session (a major pair's Asia spread is commonly wider than its London spread), so comparing every session's range against whichever spread happens to be live when you look would systematically favour whichever session is currently open. Directional persistence approximates "did the session keep going" by checking whether the session's first-half move and its full-session net move share the same sign, day by day, and reporting what fraction of days that held. A session that spends the day chopping back to its open scores low here even if its range (and range-to-spread ratio) looks fine, which the ratio alone would not reveal. The composite score blends a capped range-to-spread reading with persistence on the same 0-100 scale, and the panel ranks all three sessions by that score, worst reasons stated plainly per session rather than hidden behind a single number - a trader can still weight range-to- spread against persistence differently for their own strategy by reading the two component figures shown alongside the rank. Notes and limitations - Directional persistence is a same-sign proxy checked at each session's own midpoint hour, not a full path-based measure of how many times the price reversed - a genuinely choppy session that still nets in the same direction as its first half will score as persistent by this measure. - The spread sample is drawn from whatever the live MarketInfo spread reads while a bar in that session forms, accumulated over the lookback window; it is a running average, not a stored historical spread series (MT4 keeps no such history), so a symbol whose typical spread has materially widened or narrowed recently will need a few days for the average to catch up. - Sessions must not overlap in a way that matters to the comparison; the tool scores each configured window independently and does not warn about overlapping session definitions. - This is a read-only observational tool; it places no orders and sends no alerts, and does not itself pick a session automatically.
