Maria News is a news straddle Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 4. Around a big release (NFP, CPI, FOMC and others) price often jumps hard in one direction, but nobody knows which one in advance. Maria News places buy stops above price and sell stops below price at the same distance, so whichever way the spike goes, one side is triggered. Every order has its own take profit and stop loss. Place the grid with one click, or let the auto news mode place it a few seconds before each event you selected. ONE-CLICK PANEL - PLACE puts the buy stops and the sell stops in one click; BUY STOP and SELL STOP place one side only. - 1 to 20 stop orders per side: the first at the Start distance, each next one a Step further. - TP, SL, Trailing and Breakeven, each with its own ON/OFF switch and value box, editable right on the panel. - Total TP: closes everything when the floating profit of all trades reaches your money target. - X buttons cancel the buy stops, the sell stops or both. CLOSE ALL cancels the stops and closes every position. - Preview lines show on the chart where the stops will go before you place them. - Level table: every grid level with its state (waiting, open with P/L, done, cancelled). - Info rows: balance, equity, free margin, floating P/L, spread, candle countdown. - The panel remembers your values per chart. HIDE folds it to a small header. AUTO NEWS MODE - Switch MANUAL / AUTO NEWS on the panel. - Choose which news to trade: impact (high, medium and high, or all) and a keyword list (Non-Farm, CPI, FOMC, Federal Funds Rate, Unemployment Rate, GDP, Retail Sales, PCE by default; empty = every event). - The grid is placed a set number of seconds before the release (60 by default) and never later than 3 seconds before it. - If the spread is too wide or the price feed is frozen, Auto waits and checks again every second. If the release time comes first, the event is skipped and the reason is shown on the panel. - Unfilled stops of the auto grid are cancelled a set number of minutes after the release (5 by default). Grids you placed by hand are never touched. - TEST event input: a fake high-impact USD event in N minutes, to watch the whole cycle on a demo account. NEWS ON THE CHART - Weekly economic calendar for the chart's two currencies (gold and silver use USD): time, currency, event, forecast, previous value and a countdown. - Impact colours, country flags and dotted vertical lines with event labels on the chart. - The news table can be dragged anywhere and collapsed. PROTECTION - Spread guard: no stops are placed while the spread is wider than a set % of the first stop distance. The panel shows the spread in green (OK) or red (WIDE). - Spike guard (optional): closes a fill that slipped too far past its stop price. - OCO (optional): when one side fills, the other side's stops of the same grid are cancelled. - Checks before every order: broker stop and freeze levels, lot limits, free margin for the whole side, the broker's limit on the number of orders. - Prices are rounded to the symbol's tick size. HOW TO USE 1. Attach Maria News to a chart. It is made for gold and works on any symbol. 2. For gold leave "Distances are in" = Price ($1 move = 1.00). For forex, indices and other symbols set it to Points. 3. Allow the news feed: Tools > Options > Expert Advisors > tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL" and add https://nfs.faireconomy.media 4. Set the lot, Start, Step, TP and SL on the panel, then press PLACE before a release, or switch to AUTO NEWS. IMPORTANT - News trading carries high risk: spreads widen and orders can fill with slippage. Try it on a demo account first and use a lot size you can afford to lose. - MetaTrader 4 has no news calendar in the Strategy Tester. There the EA simulates a release every few hours (input "Strategy Tester only"), so the grid logic can be tested. Live trading does not use this. - Use a broker that allows pending orders close to price during news. Maria News is a news straddle Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 4. Around a big economic release such as Non-Farm Payrolls, CPI or FOMC, price often jumps hard in one direction, but nobody knows which one in advance. Maria News places buy stop orders above the price and sell stop orders below it, at the same distance. Whichever way the spike goes, the stops on that side are triggered. Every order has its own take profit and stop loss, and a weekly news calendar is shown right on the chart.
Manual mode and the one-click panel
In Manual mode you place the grid yourself. PLACE puts the buy stops and the sell stops in one click, and BUY STOP or SELL STOP places one side only. You choose 1 to 20 stop orders per side: the first at the Start distance, each next one a Step further. Take profit, stop loss, trailing and breakeven each have their own ON/OFF switch on the panel, and Total TP closes everything at a money target. Preview lines show where the stops will go, and a level table shows the state of every level.
Auto news mode
In AUTO NEWS mode the EA places the grid by itself before each news event you selected. You filter events by impact (high only, medium and high, or all) and by a keyword list. The default list is Non-Farm, CPI, FOMC, Federal Funds Rate, Unemployment Rate, GDP, Retail Sales and PCE. The grid is placed a set number of seconds before the release (60 by default) and never later than 3 seconds before it. Unfilled stops of the auto grid are cancelled a set time after the release (5 minutes by default).
Protection before and after the fill
The spread guard places no stops while the spread is wider than a set percentage of the first stop distance, and the panel shows the spread in green or red. In auto mode, if the spread is too wide or the price feed is frozen, the EA waits and checks again every second; if the release comes first, the event is skipped with the reason shown. The optional spike guard closes a fill that slipped too far. Optional OCO cancels the other side when one side fills. Broker stop levels, margin and order limits are checked before every order.
Setup for gold, forex and indices
Copy Maria News.ex4 into MQL4 > Experts, refresh the Navigator, attach it to a chart, tick Allow live trading and turn AutoTrading on. To load the calendar, open Tools > Options > Expert Advisors, tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add https://nfs.faireconomy.media. The EA is made for gold, where distances are in Price mode ($1 move = 1.00). For forex, indices and other symbols set Distances are in to Points; the guide suggests Start 150 and Step 100 points as a starting point on EURUSD and GBPUSD.
Risks and limits
News releases are the most volatile moments of the market. Spreads widen, prices can gap, and stop orders can fill with large slippage, sometimes on both sides of the grid. Use a broker that allows pending orders close to price during news. MetaTrader 4 has no news calendar in the Strategy Tester, so there the EA simulates a release every few hours to test the grid logic only. Try every setting on a demo account first and use a lot size you can afford to lose.
Questions
How do I install Maria News and load the news calendar?
Copy the .ex4 file into MQL4 > Experts in MetaTrader 4, refresh the Navigator and attach it to a chart with AutoTrading on. Then open Tools > Options > Expert Advisors, tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add https://nfs.faireconomy.media. The news table fills within a few seconds.
Which news events does the auto mode trade?
You choose them by impact (high only, medium and high, or all news) and by a keyword list. By default only events whose name contains Non-Farm, CPI, FOMC, Federal Funds Rate, Unemployment Rate, GDP, Retail Sales or PCE are traded. An empty keyword list means every event.
Can I use it on forex pairs and not only gold?
Yes. It is made for gold and works on any symbol. For forex, indices and other symbols set Distances are in to Points and enter Start, Step, TP and SL in points. The guide suggests Start 150 and Step 100 points on EURUSD and GBPUSD as a starting point for demo tests.
Will the auto mode cancel or close my own trades?
No. Every button and every total uses only this EA's orders, by magic number and chart symbol. Auto news cancels only the unfilled stops of its own auto grid. Grids you placed by hand are never cancelled by the auto mode, and manual trades are never touched.
Is news trading with stop orders risky?
Yes, it is high risk. During a release spreads widen, prices can gap and stop orders can fill with large slippage, sometimes on both sides of the grid. The spread guard, spike guard and OCO reduce some of these problems but cannot remove them. Test on a demo account first and use a lot you can afford to lose.

How to install
- Download the ZIP from your PolyMaria library and unzip it.
- In MetaTrader 4 open File → Open Data Folder, then go to MQL4 → Experts.
- Copy the .mq4 / .ex4 file(s) there. Put any .mqh files in MQL4 → Include.
- Restart MetaTrader or right-click the Navigator and choose Refresh.
- Drag the expert advisor from the Navigator onto a chart, check the settings, allow Algo/Auto Trading and press OK.
- Test it first on a demo account or in the Strategy Tester.
