Jurik-Style Smoother
This is an honest submission about what it is and is not. Jurik Research's actual JMA formula has never been published; it is closed-source and undisclosed, so no MQL4 indicator - this one included - can be a genuine reproduction of it. What is public is the DESCRIBED behaviour: a filter whose Power input controls how aggressively it reacts to unusual moves, and whose Phase input trades lag against overshoot. This indicator builds that behaviour from scratch using fully disclosed, auditable maths, so you can see exactly what it does rather than trusting a black box. The core is a volatility-relative adaptive alpha, the same family of idea used in Kaufman's Adaptive MA and this catalogue's Deviation Scaled Moving Average: today's bar-to-bar move is compared against its own recent average, and that ratio - raised to the Power exponent - sets how fast the filter reacts. That adaptive rate drives two cascaded EMA stages. Running the same adaptive EMA a second time on its own output (Stage 2) removes most of the lag that a single EMA carries, the classical "double EMA" technique. Phase then blends between Stage 1 and the doubly-smoothed Stage 2: at -100 the output leans on the smoother, laggier stage; at +100 it extrapolates past Stage 1 towards a DEMA-style 2E1-E2 form, which cuts lag further but is more willing to overshoot on a sharp reversal. The result behaves the way traders describe Jurik-style filters behaving - tight and fast in a strong move, calm and smooth in chop, adjustable between lag-averse and overshoot-averse - without pretending to be a byte-for-byte port of a formula nobody outside Jurik Research has ever seen. Notes and limitations - This is an independent construction, not a reverse-engineered or decompiled copy of Jurik Research's proprietary JMA algorithm. Do not expect numerical equivalence with the commercial product; expect similar qualitative behaviour from the Phase and Power controls. - The volatility ratio is clipped to [0.1, 3.0] before the Power exponent is applied, so one outlier tick cannot send the adaptive rate to an extreme and make the filter chase a single bar. - Needs roughly 3x InpLength bars of history before the volatility average is fully populated; earlier bars are seeded flat at price. - Fully causal and recursive: no repainting, every plotted value for a closed bar is final.
