Friday To Monday Behaviour Study
"Friday sets up Monday" is one of the most repeated pieces of trading folklore, and it is almost never checked against an actual sample. This script walks the symbol's daily bars, finds every clean Friday-to-Monday pair, and sorts them into six buckets: whether Friday closed up or down, crossed with whether that close sat in the bottom, middle or top third of Friday's own high-low range. For every bucket it reports how often Monday's open gapped in the same direction as Friday's own close-versus-open move, and - conditioned on that gap actually happening - how often Monday's own close continued in the gap's direction rather than fading it. A bucket with a small sample count is still shown, not hidden, so a trader can judge for themselves whether six years of data or six data points sit behind a number. The one trap this avoids: a bank-holiday Monday shifts the next trading day to Tuesday, and treating that as if it were a normal two-session gap would quietly mix a three-day gap into a one-day-gap sample. Any pair where the bar immediately after Friday is not itself a Monday bar is skipped rather than mislabelled. Notes and limitations - Only clean Friday-immediately-followed-by-Monday pairs are counted; any pair broken by a holiday-shifted next session is excluded from the sample, not merged into it. - This studies daily bars only - it does not look inside Monday's session hour by hour, only at Monday's own open, high, low and close. - A bucket with very few qualifying pairs is still printed with its raw count so the reader can judge sample size themselves; no minimum sample threshold is enforced. - Past behaviour on this instrument's history is not a guarantee of future behaviour - this is a base-rate study, not a signal.
