Extended Harmonic Scanner

Most published harmonic-pattern scanners cover the four "classic" XABCD shapes - Gartley, Bat, Butterfly, Crab - because they all share the same ratio structure: four adjacent-leg ratios (AB/XA, BC/AB, CD/BC, AD/XA) tested against a band each. Shark, Cypher and the 5-0 pattern are real, separately documented Scott Carney harmonic patterns, but they do not fit that simple adjacent-leg scheme cleanly: Cypher's completion point is defined as a retracement of the X-to-C distance, not of the B-to-C leg, and Shark's completion is measured against X-A rather than against C-D. This scanner adds the extra ratios (AC/XA and XD/XC) those two definitions actually need, rather than forcing them through the four-ratio template and getting the wrong answer. Shark and 5-0 also share nearly identical entry windows for the B and C points (both extend well past a 1:1 projection), which means the completion ratio is the only thing that tells them apart - this scanner checks Shark's X-anchored completion first, then 5-0's BC-retracement completion, so a structure matching both windows is never silently mislabelled as the wrong one of the two. Published ratio bands vary by a few percent between sources for these three less standardised patterns. InpRatioTolerance widens every band symmetrically; the exact edges used here are a documented judgement call (see the source header), not a claim of one single canonical figure - widen or narrow it to match whichever reference the user already trades from. Notes and limitations This scans for Shark, Cypher and 5-0 ONLY - it deliberately does not duplicate the Gartley/Bat/Butterfly/Crab set already published separately in this catalogue (HarmonicPatterns). Run both indicators together for full coverage of the seven most commonly traded harmonic shapes. Like any ratio-band scanner, this identifies geometrically complete structures only; it does not wait for a reversal candle or any other confirmation at D, and it does not repaint once a swing is confirmed (the confirmation delay is InpSwingBars bars by construction, stated plainly rather than hidden). Overlapping ratio windows between Shark and 5-0 are resolved by checking order (Shark first), which means a structure that would technically also satisfy 5-0's bands is always reported as Shark if it matches Shark's completion ratio.

How to install

  1. Download the ZIP from your PolyMaria library and unzip it.
  2. In MetaTrader 5 open File → Open Data Folder, then go to MQL5 → Indicators.
  3. Copy the .mq5 file(s) there. Put any .mqh files in MQL5 → Include.
  4. Open the .mq5 file in MetaEditor and press Compile (F7) if MetaTrader does not show it.
  5. Drag the indicator from the Navigator onto a chart and adjust the settings.
