Equity Goal Thermometer
Most "goal tracker" scripts either hardcode a target balance or reset silently on every terminal restart, which makes the number meaningless by mid-month. This one fixes the goal to the account's equity at the start of the calendar month, stored in a global variable keyed by account number and year/month, so a restart or a chart reload never resets the baseline while the month is still in progress. A new month is detected automatically and reseeds the baseline from that day's equity. The bar itself is a filled rectangle that grows from the bottom, coloured green when current progress is ahead of a straight-line pace expectation, gold when close to it, and red when behind. The pace line itself is drawn as a tick mark across the bar so the two numbers - actual progress and expected pace - sit side by side rather than requiring the trader to do the subtraction in their head. The goal is expressed as a percentage input applied to the month-start equity, so the same default setting works unmodified on a $500 account or a $50,000 account. Notes and limitations Pace is a straight-line expectation (elapsed calendar days / days in month), not a trading-day or session-weighted curve - simple to read at a glance, but it does not account for weekends having no trading activity, so pace during a weekend will look static while price does not move either. The bar fill is clamped visually at 100% of the goal; overshoot past the goal is reflected only in the percentage text, not by the bar growing past the frame. Global variables set with GlobalVariableSet are auto-deleted by the terminal after roughly four weeks of no access. A month-start baseline that is never touched again (e.g. the chart is closed for the rest of the month) can in principle be wiped before the next read, though the indicator re-touches it every tick while attached, so this only matters if the chart stays detached for an extended stretch. Equity, not balance, is used throughout, so floating open positions move the bar in real time along with realised profit.
