Daily Debrief Template Filler
Journalling gets skipped most often on the exact days it matters most, because starting from a blank page after a long session is a chore. This script removes the blank-page problem: it writes a plain text file for today, already filled in with the day's closed trades, win and loss counts, net result, and the balance at the start and end of the day, followed by four labelled blank sections - what went well, what went wrong, the lesson, and tomorrow's plan - ready to type straight into. Running the script a second time on the same day, by default, refuses to overwrite the file it already wrote. A trader who ran it once, typed real notes into the blank sections, then dragged it onto the chart again by habit should never have that work silently discarded - the script requires an explicit input flag to regenerate today's file. Notes and limitations Only OP_BUY/OP_SELL trades closed on the current calendar day (broker server time) are listed; balance operations are excluded from the trade list. "Balance start of day" is approximated as current balance minus today's net result, which is exact unless a deposit or withdrawal also happened today (that would be counted as if it were trading P/L in the reverse calculation). The file is plain text with no formatting beyond section headers - it is meant to be opened and edited in any text editor, not parsed by other tools.
