Connors Short Term Reversion System
Most CodeBase copies of this system keep the RSI(2) entry and quietly replace Connors's exit with a conventional stop-loss/take-profit pair, which changes the system's actual behaviour. The published rule is a discipline exit, not a profit target: hold the trade until price closes back above (or below, for the mirror short) a short simple moving average, however many bars that takes. This EA keeps that exit intact. The entry requires two conditions together, both read from the last CLOSED bar so the signal cannot repaint on the forming one: price above a long-term simple moving average (Connors uses 200), establishing the trend the trade is taken with, and a 2-period RSI closing at or below a deep oversold threshold (Connors uses 5). The published system is long-only in a bull trend; the mirror short setup - price below the trend MA with RSI at or above the symmetric overbought threshold - is included as an optional extension, off by default, so the system runs exactly as published unless a user deliberately turns shorts on. An optional catastrophic safety stop can be attached in pips. It is not part of Connors's published rules and defaults to off (0), because the system's real risk control is the MA exit; the safety stop exists only to cap the tail risk of a data feed gap or a runaway session while the EA waits for that exit. Notes and limitations - One position at a time under this magic number; a new signal is ignored while a trade is already open. - Designed and historically tested on daily bars; running it on an intraday timeframe departs from the published system's evidence. - The exit has no maximum holding time - in a strong trend the price can stay on the "wrong" side of the exit MA for a long stretch, and with the safety stop left at its default of 0 the trade has no other exit until it does. - Requires AutoTrading enabled and IsTradeAllowed() true.
